Test Your Love and Bring a Friend to Chaka CrossFit!

Table of Contents

A fun event we do every quarter is our Bring a Friend workout. This is where members bring, beg, steal, or lovingly pressure their friends to come try a workout at Chaka CrossFit.

And it is true. We love the workouts, the community, and the atmosphere. But if I am being honest, there is no secret recipe. It is the members that make this place special.

It is that one hour of the day where you can walk in, be told what to do by a coach, and have the plan already laid out for you. You get to laugh, cry, struggle, celebrate, and leave proud of what you just did. For one hour, you are not thinking about the stress outside these walls. It is a release. It is therapy with barbells and high fives.

So why would you not want your friends to come experience one of the best hours of your day?

Truthfully, I love CrossFit, so I do not totally understand the hesitation. But if I had to guess, it is because a lot of people assume the workouts are too hard, too intense, or not meant for them.

Here is what I want you to know. The workouts are balanced, coached, and designed to work for every skill level. You do not need to be scared. You do not need to be in shape first. You just need to show up and be willing to be consistent. And that thing that looks impossible on paper? With the right plan, the right coaching, and the right people around you, you will surprise yourself.

That brings me to one of my favorite events of the year.

Every year we host our Test Your Love in-house competition. It is a fun, welcoming event that is available to everyone. We typically run it around Valentine’s Day, but this year we have a few special humans who will be away working their tails off at a competition called Fittest of the Coast.

So to welcome them back, we are hosting Test Your Love the week after Valentine’s Day on February 21st!

Here is the twist. This year we will have two divisions: a members division and a Bring a Friend division.

The Bring a Friend division will be more beginner friendly and visitor friendly, which means you can bring someone you care about and show them what you have been going on and on about. They will get to see the energy, feel the support, and experience what makes this place different.

Come sweat with your person. Come cheer loud. Come do something hard together.

And if your friend is nervous, tell them this. We will meet them exactly where they are, and we will take care of the rest!

We have something at the gym called an NSI (No-Sweat Intro). It’s a chance for someone to schedule an appointment, come see the space, hear what we’re all about, and for us to learn about their goals so we can build a health plan together – if it’s the right

Longevity – Training for the Long Run

In my first post I talked about scaling. I could go on forever about that subject, but I don’t really have to because any fitness topic ultimately comes back to adjusting workouts in some way. I’m 53 years young, and I’ve been doing this exercise methodology called CrossFit for close

Scaling CrossFit

Scaling in fitness means adjusting a prescribed movement to one that is more appropriate for the athlete while still meeting the intent of the workout. For example, if an athlete cannot jump to a box, the movement can be adjusted to a box step-up or a kettlebell swing. Push-ups are
