This is a special follow-up post on double under for the ladies…
Double unders. The skill that makes you look like a jump-rope ninja…and sometimes makes you feel like you should have packed an extra pair of leggings. If you’ve had babies, you know exactly what I’m talking about. That little “oops” moment when your rope is spinning, your heart rate is up, and suddenly your bladder decides it wants to join the workout too.
This happens. To a lot of us. It’s not weakness, it’s not something to be ashamed of, and it definitely doesn’t mean you don’t belong here. It just means your body has been through some incredible things and is still figuring out how to balance “creating life” with “jumping rope really fast.” That’s strength, not failure.
At Chaka, we believe in laughing through the hard stuff. Because if you can’t laugh about peeing a little mid-workout, what can you laugh at? We joke, we share stories, and we keep moving. Black leggings, an extra pair of shorts, maybe a towel in your gym bag and you adapt, you roll with it, and you keep training.
Scaling is your friend. Singles, drills, accessory work, and pelvic floor training are all part of the process. None of it makes you “less than.” It makes you smart. It keeps you safe. And it sets you up for success when you’re ready to string those doubles together.
Here’s the empowering part: every time you pick up that rope, you’re refusing to let embarrassment win. You’re showing up, putting in the work, and rewriting the story. Double unders aren’t about perfection. They’re about persistence. And if a little humor (and a little laundry) comes with the process, so be it.
Because at the end of the day, you’re stronger than the rope, stronger than the leaks, and strong enough to laugh at yourself while chasing progress. And that’s the kind of strength that really matters!
